BUILDING REGULATIONS APPROVED DOCUMENT F:
Ventilation (2010 Edition), stipulates the provision of adequate mechanical ventilation
rates in non-habitable rooms such as toilets, bathrooms, shower rooms, kitchens.
and utility rooms in domestic dwellings.
WHAT THE REGULATIONS SAY:
(if the fan is not running continuously):
Toilet/sanitary accommodation 6 l/sec (22m³/hr)
Bathroom/shower room 15 l/sec (54m³/hr)
Kitchen adjacent to hob 30 l/sec (108m³/hr)
Kitchen without cooker hood 60 l/sec (216m³/hr)
Utility room
30 l/sec (108m³/hr)
BUILDING REGULATIONS: PART L COMPLIANCE
Part L (England & Wales) concerns the conservation of fuel and power. Combined with
the requirements for Part F, the regulations mean that there are obligatory minimum
requirements for electric ventilation systems for new build and refurbishment. Energy
efficiency is defined in terms of specific fan power (SFP), which is measured in watts per
litre per second of airflow. All models Part L compliant models that Toolstation stock
comply within the maximum requirement of 0.5 L/s.

AXIAL FANS:
CENTRIFUGAL FANS:
These fans are perfect where you are ducting the fan
straight through the wall or on a small length of ducting
up to 1 metre.
A centrifugal fan is ideal where you need ducting in
excess of 1 metre up to 3 metres in length.
INLINE AXIAL FANS:
Our standard Inline fans are ideal where you can fit
the fans remotely and will perform up to a maximum
1.5 metres in ducting.
INLINE MIXFLO/CENTRIFUGAL FANS:
When you need to extract over a distance greater
than 3m these fans should be used to ensure adequate
performance is achieved.
