Choose fabrics that are
sustainable for their
life cycle and you'II
sleep easy knowing
that they're kind to the
environment and your
w allet. Here's how to...
One of the simplest ways to reduce your
energy bills is to layer on more insulating
textiles, rather than turning up your heating.
You can be sure that when you buy cotton
from IKEA, it comes from sustainable sources
that use minimal pesticides in their production
process. And when you fancy a new look, you can
upcycle your old textiles so that they don't simply
contribute to landfill when you tire of them. If you
fancy giving your old duvet cover a new lease of
life, why not try an IKEA 'Reclaim, Revive, Re
Love, Repeat' workshop to learn how to turn it
into something new?
IKEA is piloting a Textile Takeback scheme in
its Cardiff store. There are in-store workshops
showing customers how to revive old textiles or
turn them into something new. Customers can
also bring in any unwanted textiles bought from
any IKEA store. All items are donated to the
YMCA in Roath, Cardiff, where items are reused,
repaired, recycled or distributed to homeless
people or low-income families. Turn over for more
inspiration on having a softer touch on our planet..
