Staycations boom
set to remain
The staycation boom looks set to remain
as British holidaymakers plan to make a
repeat booking next year. This developing
trend has obviously been fuelled by
Covid and the ongoing uncertainty
around foreign travel. Research suggests
it will continue beyond that as British
holidaymakers settle into new holiday
habits post-pandemic.
This is helping businesses bounce back
from the pandemic as holidaymakers are
supporting local businesses now more
than ever.
56%
of consumers visited
a hospitality venue in
the first 10 days after
July’s ‘Freedom Day’,
almost double the
amount that returned
following the lifting
of lockdown last
summer.
The latest ONS figures
released earlier
this week show UK
job vacancies at a
record high, with the
hospitality sector
reporting a 10%
vacancy rate – equal to
210,000
roles.
Data from UKHospitality
survey, supported by CGA
Occupancy levels across
hotels in Britain rise further.
Research from booking platform
Hoo found that on average 93% of
accommodation across 12 popular
staycation destinations was booked up
in August, up from 90% in June.
