With the gradual reopening of the
hospitality sector, we have seen a huge
surge in demand with people keen to eat
out again and resume 'normal' life. This
has led to many restaurants being fully
booked for weeks at a time.

restrictions/ lockdowns
This isn't helped with the uncertainty around
future lockdowns, with people being fearful
of returning to the hospitality sector and
concerned over job security.
"Online job advertisements for "catering and hospitality" rose
above pre-pandemic levels in the first week of May', jobs search
engine Adzuna commented.
Business owners are left with a dilemma,
excited about reopening and the high
demand but concerned with maintaining
service levels and quality with staff shortages
& especially lack of chefs, forcing many
to reduce opening hours or even close for
certain days of the week.
"What's happened in this pandemic is they have gone to do
other roles, realizing they can earn the same or more money
standing in a car park or delivering for Amazon or Ocado. It's a
much more pleasant experience. They do fewer hours. They do
sociable hours."
Specialist recruiter, Caterer.com, said the number of vacancies on
its website had grown by more than 85% in the last few weeks,
with 22,000 roles now being advertised.
Unfortunately due to the ongoing disruption
caused by driver shortages across the
industry, we are experiencing some delivery
delays from a few suppliers. We are working
closely with suppliers to mitigate the
disruption and appreciate your ongoing
patience. Our stock holding remains to
be in a good position, and you may find
alternatives are offered where there is
exceptional demand causing out of stocks.
