MY FOODIE LIFE
IF EAMONN COOKS, IT LOOKS
IKE WE'VE BEEN BURGLED!
so l'll often make a big lasagne that
we all help ourselves to when we
get in. We do make Sunday a family
day, though, and we'll all sit down
together to a big roast.
Any other cooks in the family?
Eamonn's Irish mammy did all the
cooking for her family, and he never
learned. He's not much of a culinary
expert and if he makes so much as
a sandwich, the kitchen ends up
looking as if we've been burgled. Once
on This Morning, a seafood dish was
being made, and he was shocked to
see the raw prawns. They're grey,
they can't be fresh!' he exclaimed. He
didn't realise they only turn pink when

What did you eat growing up?
I'm from an army family so we
moved around a fair bit. Mum
always embraced the local cuisine;
she would make a fantastic curry
What kind of cook are you?
I'm quite good at just peering into the
fridge and rustling up something with,
say, a few eggs, some chorizo, cheese
or whatever. I like good home-cooking,
such as cottage pie or steak and
kidney pudding, but I can't bake it's
a science and far too precise for me
Where do you find inspiration?
I have far too many cookbooks
and in my job I get some great
tips from the chefs who cook on
This Morning. Gino D'Acampo
recently made a classic Bolognese
sauce, but recommended adding half ith some ready-chunked chicken
a cup of milk to the pan to tenderise
the meat. I'm going to give it a try!
What's your ultimate comfort food? It's so fast, easy and delicious.
It has to be my mum's shepherd's
pie - that would be my last supper.
Whenever we visit her, I ask for it,
and I make it at home a lot, too
I've learned many cooked. Jack, on the other hand, is
great tips from chefs becoming a very good cook. We
cooked together when he was young.

Do you enjoy entertaining?
I love it. Last Easter, we had a big
family lunch and I decorated with lots2
of yellow and spring flowers. I cooked
lamb followed by a layered pavlova
with gold 'dust sprinkled on top I'd
never made it before and was thrilled
with how it turned out.
What's your go-to quick meal?
Frozen chopped onions and garlic,
or fresh meatballs, and a jar of pasta
sauce, served with microwaved rice.
Do you eat together as a family?
I'd love to say that's the case, but
with our different schedules, we
tend to get home at different times,

Kettle crisps. I can eat a big bag
all on my own if I'm not careful
'Avocados get a bad press because of
the fat content, but they're delicious. E
